Morning Glow

IMG_2849

Spiraling
morning glow
each element unique
and yet it is
the whole to make
what is
into being

Spiraling around
I see more deeply
each time
parts and pieces
layered
colors finely portioned
shades and hues
to be noticed
if one allows

Spiraling into
blossom
a blessing to be held
given freely
unwavering

Author’s Note:

Looking for spirals but seeing more deeply into that which surrounds me.

I found milkweed for bees and butterflies.

I’ve been wanting to plant some in my yard. This is at the open space near my home on my morning doggie walks. They are mowing differently this year, at least for a while. They are leaving a border along some of the walks with natural vegetation.

In the past, they always mowed this little plant down before it had a chance to bloom. When I walked by I always encouraged it not to give up.

This is the blessing it is giving us this year. I love it so very much.

Leaving Treasure

Cockelshell.jpg

I seat an egg cockleshell
miles from it’s home,
where waves of grass abound
instead of water.

I deposit it lightly
where branch once protracted
from trunk rooted deeply underground.

“It’s a treasure,”
I whisper to my darling sister tree.
“Hold it safe for seeker to find.”

And I’ll return someday,
in hope to behold idle womb
as I confer a new wonder to tarry.

Interlude

Day 23: Peace Poetry Postcard Month

Forestroom.jpg

In winter’s forest room
light streams down
from eternity’s birth,
moss unfurls where
no sun alights,
vines yaw, rocks
linger in peace.

Noiselessness drums
a tattoo of suspension,
clemency, tolerance.

In the forest room
we rest to wonder,
breathe to embrace,
slumber our transfiguration.

Wonder

If we stand in one place and never move,
if we brick our house around us,
we will never see the wonder that
has been gifted to us.

Wonder changes as the seasons, grows
and wanes. At times there is joy, other
heartbreak. If we are safe behind high
walls of surety, we will never feel Wonder.

Only when we let go to Wonder,
the changes, embrace questions so
we can look for answers, only then
we come face to face with Wonder,
only then we see.

Be Wonder-filled, do not be afraid.
Light is always there, unchanged,
with love, deep love that never
changes. Be you, that’s Wonder.

Author’s Note:

I wrote this for a friend, one who inspires me. I don’t think this friend will mind that I am sharing it.

There seems to be a theme today on social media. This fits. I am always amazed at how things fit.

A prayer by St. Teresa of Avila comes to mind, also. I use it as part of my daily passage meditation. this is a translation by Eknath Eswaran, founder of the Blue Mountain Center for Meditation.

Let nothing upset you,
Let nothing frighten you.
Everything is changing.
God alone is changeless.
Patience attains the goal.
She who has God lacks nothing.
God alone fills every need.
