Wednesday Afternoons
A line, simply one point reaching to another
Held between two stately fingers.
Not taught and unyielding
But with a bit of flex and sway.
Alighting very gently, one talon and then, the next,
Balancing with ease, adjusting with each breath of wind.
Patience reigning in the postmeridian,
Purpose nourished in the womb.
With a muted flap of wings
Another grasp, following another, joined by more
Soon filling the craving space,
An invocation of companionship.
Inspired song fills the air,
Wafting to the clouds, even further to infinity.
The sweet sound of creation,
A mingling community of writers.
Author’s note:
I dedicate this poem to you, my dear friends and writers. I cherish the time we are together writing and sharing. You inspire me and fill my soul with joy. Thank you for being a part of my community.
Reverb10 – December 7 – Community Prompt: Community. Where have you discovered community, online or otherwise, in 2010? What community would you like to join, create or more deeply connect with in 2011? (Author: Cali Harris)
Weaves the feel of writing with the feel of the writing community so seamlessly that the reader doesn't delineate one from the other – beautiful writing!
I agree beautiful writing Lex! Another of my blog friends just joined Reverb10 today. I didn't know that I could join too! Just what my blocked online journal format needed, set-prompts.
